About Murshida
Murshida Rudi Moumanie Kadre began practicing yoga in Boulder, Colorado in 1984, where she met her teacher, Mursshud B. VanMerlin, the founder of Circle of Friends School of Yoga, Meditation and the Creative Arts. She entered into a yogic life with 10 years of restaurant experience, a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and Special Education from Murray State University in Kentucky and her Masters work complete in Art Therapy at NYU.
During the first six years of her sadhana (yogic discipline), she studied and practiced four styles of yoga: Kundalini, Tao, Tibetan and Hatha Yoga. She studied and received tantric empowerments and initiation from Tantric Buddhist Masters, the Venerable Gangteng Tulku Rinpoche of Bhutan, His Holiness Chetsang Rinpoche and Lama Tharchen. She completed a three year training in conscious sexuality, received an initiation of Mary Magdalene from Flo Magdalena (Calhoun), a channel of Mary Magdalene, and began to share publicly this teaching and training. She co-founded the Seattle Yoga Center and ran practitioner houses in Seattle and Los Angeles.
Rudi began to partner with her teacher, Mursshud, in 1990 to create a tantric school through their relationship, which Mursshud named TSiSoM (Tantric School of the inner Secret and the outer Manifestation), and also to create a yogic retreat center (now called Liberty Advance) in East San Diego County. For three years, she taught yoga at their public center called uNIT, and at two aerobic studios in the San Diego area. She developed a personal training course called You Are Responsible (Y.A.R.), which assists people in clearing and empowering their outer relationships and inner dialogue so as to manifest their dreams. During this time, she also began a course of study and practice in the Yungdrung Bön tradition through Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche
At the end of 1992, she began organizing and teaching The Womb of Passage, which was a comprehensive course in yoga based on her own training in the four yogic traditions as well as the Sufi and Tantra paths, consisting of eight 5-day intensives. At the same time, she developed a Yoga Teacher Training which offered a two-year comprehensive or one-year certification. From 1993-2000, she participated in developing the World Evolution® Loft project, located in downtown San Diego, by offering yoga and Y.A.R. Training. During the Sufi intensive of the first Womb of Passage cycle (1996), Mursshud initiated Rudi as a Murshida in the Sufi tradition.
In 1997 and 1999, Rudi traveled to Russia and Australia to teach workshops and develop TSiSoM communities. In 2000 and 2001, she traveled throughout the U.S. and made a trip to India to continue this work, helping to ground the Traveling Love Show project which promotes artistic communication, yoga workshops and TSiSoM community development. On July 5, 2005, she received from Mursshud the initiation of Bopsa (dharma master) as lineage holder of Dr. Il Bung Seo's Zen tradition.
Currently, Rudi is offering the seventh cycle of the Comprehensive Course (now reorganized and expanded as the Rudra Yoga Program), Rudra Yoga Teacher Training, Y.A.R. Training and TSiSoM Training. With her partner Mureed she teaches Couple's Workshops, works in the New Being Project which is grounding the teaching and practice of conscious child-raising, and continues her practice and study of the Yungdrung Bön tradition with Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche.
Today, Murhsida has a unique vision to offer families with special needs children a rejuvenating retreat program which includes Feldenkrais Method and Anat Baniel Method, yoga and art therapy. For more on her vision, visit www.elegantmovement.com
